Hardy It is 3 years since I bought this book,in April 2005, soon after being diagnosed with the most serious staging of prostate cancer. I had only just celebrated my 54th birthday and here was I being told that the prognosis was very, very bleak. I then bought and read Jane Plant's own inspiring story of her fight against breast cancer in her book "Your life In Your Hands", and I became convinced of the wisdom of her words and her successful strategy in the battle against such devastating illness.The first step in my fightback was to completely change my diet, and to do this I needed a guide to help me through the planning of all my daily meals. Never having been on any type of diet before, I was at a loss as to where to start, what to buy, what to avoid, and how to prepare and to cook the foods I would now need.This simple, well written book was my guiding light, my very own cookery 'bible. To this day it sits proudly on my kitchen shelf, now very well thumbed through and extrememly well worn.I could never have managed to stay on the path to recovery without it.And a recovery it has indeed been. Only last week, on 15th May 2008, my oncologist gave me my latest blood test results and told me how amazed and delighted he was that I had come through all the hormone treatment and radiotherapy so exceptionally well, and that after having stopped all medication 6 months ahead of schedule, my results were startling.I have a normal PSA level and my testosterone is equivalent to that of a healthy, younger man.I cannot praise this book highly enough, and I have waited three years to write this review, now being totally sure that buying it was one of the best decisions of my life.Thank you Prof Jane Plant. It worked for you, and you were magnanimous enough to write these books and to spread this message of hope to other cancer sufferers....and I am sure that there must be many others now in the world who are feeling as I do today....so very glad to be alive!George Hardy,England25th May 2008

Plant's copy of "Your Life in Your Hands" and was expecting this book to be vegan, but it's got recipes with meat in it. Just wanted to post this FYI for anyone else out there that may have been like me. I much prefer "Your Life In Your Hands." This books is nothing but a cook book.

When it came back just days after surgery, her doctors gave her 2-3 months to live - until she changed her diet and got well, about 20 years ago. Believe me, what she did is worth doing for anybody with breast, prostate, or other many other cancers.

Illuminating and Entertaining By Mark Gunnells Just finished reading Jason Sizemore's For Exposure, a damn entertaining and engaging memoir of sorts that details the journey Sizemore underwent to follow his dream, founding Apex Publications and building it into the well-regarded business it is today.The book is written in an affable style that makes you feel you're really getting to know Sizemore, and the man you are getting to know is funny, charming, self-deprecating, and passionate about what he does.The tales of his various convention experiences are the most colorful, and he can make horrible experiences such as food poisoning and kidney stones into hilarious anecdotes.The book is also peppered with "rebuttals" from various folks involved in the stories, giving their own versions of the events Sizemore describes. This is an ingenious addition.What also comes through clearly in Sizemore's writing is his deep love, respect, and appreciation for every person that has helped him along the way.The writing is strong, and I definitely recommend this book to all genre fans. It certainly increased my appreciation for Sizemore and Apex.

I'm not one for biographies or historical novels , so when the opportunity arose to read For Exposure, I hesitated, but just for a moment. I respect and admire what Jason Sizemore has been able to accomplish at Apex Publications and thought it might me interesting to see how he got there.At the beginning of For Exposure it was like Jason was channeling the legendary Jean Sheppard, you know, the man responsible for "A Christmas Story." I nearly expected Jason to tell us that all he ever wanted for Christmas was a Red Ryder BB Gun.As an adult, Jason, like many of us, felt stuck in a dead end job. Unlike many of us, he did something about that and followed his passion and so Apex Science Fiction and Horror Digest was born. What follows are numerous stories of trips to cons and ongoing efforts to grow a following for his new endeavor.It's a great story of perseverance filled with delightful anecdotes of the publishing business and the writers who contribute to the Science Fiction and Horror genres. Jason even gives several of those he writes about in the book a chance to tell their side of the story.All told, For Exposure: The Life and Times of a Small Press Publisher, is great for anyone who might like to see what goes into creating a successful small press, or just enjoys hearing great con stories, and believe me there are a few of those between these pages. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Truly insightful and entertaining By Hannah Krieger "For Exposure" is a truly insightful book written by Jason Sizemore. The book details the beginning of Apex Publications, its journey as a magazine and its growth into books, and ends with the open ended possibility of what great results await Apex in the future. This book is highly captivating and entertaining and was exceedingly difficult to put down. The many different stories that make up this narrative are exciting, unbelievable, inspiring, and cool (depending on the story). The stories are also told in such a way that makes it easy to see the scene unfolding before your eyes as you read. I also loved how some of the people that Sizemore mentioned in the book were able to respond to the stories Sizemore shared with their own input. This was a really unique aspect that created dimension for the book and I enjoyed reading what these people had to say in response to Sizemore's stories and praises. All in all, this was a fantastic read and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is interested in any and everything Apex, the writing industry, the editing industry, people who enjoy a great story that is told well, people who like short stories, people who like to laugh, and people who like to be inspired. Sizemore opens the door and lets you into his world in a very honest and open way. I strongly recommend this book and can't wait to see what the future has in store for Apex.

Yeakley has written an excellent book about the immeasurable promises found in God’s written Word. He began the book by sharing that there are different types of promises: general, specific, conditional, and unconditional. An example of a general promise would be John 3:16 and God sending His own Son and whoever believes in Him will receive eternal life. Another example would be Ephesians 6:2-3 which tells us the importance of honoring our parents and our reward will be enjoying a long life. He also revealed how he relied on the promises of God when they were expecting their first child. They just graduated from college and they were struggling to save up extra money. They choose to depend on God to assist them in buying the needed items for raising a child. They believed the mighty promise found in Philippians 4:19 which declares that God will supply our every need. God miraculous provided every single item they needed for the new baby during this time.One of my favorite chapters was called, “Theology of Promises” because this one discussed how God promised to Abraham that He would make him a great nation and He will bless him and curse people who were against him (Genesis 12:2-3). This passage lead Thomas in to asking God to let him meet people in every continent and be able to disciple there. He has already made it to four of the seven continents. It also contained helpful references on where to find in scriptures where God fulfilled his promises to different Bible characters such as: Nehemiah, David, Joshua, Paul, and much more. This is especially helpful in seeing how God came through for His people time and time again and how He is still on the throne and able to be amazing things!I would recommend this marvelous book to anyone who enjoys learning more about God’s written Word and they are wanting to learn about His promises for their lives. This book taught me that there are many commands, principles, and promises found in the Bible and they can literally change our entire life and assist us in standing strong on His Word when the hurricanes of life try and break us down. I liked how the book included many scriptures verses and a helpful appendix on certain topics listing scripture references. I was also deeply reminded and touched when he discussed how critical patience is and God’s timing is always right and patience gives us time to build our faith while we are waiting for God’s answer. By Magazine sam Like an oasis in the middle of desert, this book provide encouragement for not losing heart in praying for God's promises. I highly recommend this book. Also, as companion for this book, I would like to recommend "Praying bible promises" and "God's promises for your every need". I really really love this book.

By Michele Morin Every parent has heard it — the greatest of all appeals to justice: “You promised!” The promises of a responsible parent are not lightly made; therefore, the power of the appeal. As children of God, we can approach Him with this same confidence, for His Word is full of trustworthy promises founded upon His character and His power.In Praying Over God’s Promises, Thomas Yeakley helps us to see that there are two types of promises in the Bible:1.General promises that are given to many people and for all time such as John 3:16.2.Specific promises that relate to a unique situation and time, and are impressed upon the heart of the reader by the Holy Spirit, resulting in inner peace or direction.More subjective, specific promises require special discretion, but we are to both believe and act upon God’s general and specific promises. Yeakley fine tunes our listening to Scripture by sharing five means used by God to clarify His guidance:•Clear commandments and principles from the Word of God. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Warm, engaging and relevant By Adina Lakser I devoured this book, although not a "light" read it is well written, engaging, relevant and human. Nadigal's tone is honest, kind, and he does not write as some distant expert…he inserts himself into the struggle. As a divorced woman, this book helped me understand how and why my ex and I struggled (I can finally get rid of the line "we just weren't compatible"...) and gives me encouraging hope for the future. The book turns a lot of culturally accepted "truths" about relationships on its head (compromise is key, wait for The One) and frees the reader to find a deeper, more nurturing love. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone on the relationship spectrum!

By Rachel Despite not being single, I found this book an interesting read. Nadigel combines an easy to read narrative that follows his own trials with committing, with well sourced information and research to back up his claims. Between the narrative and the self help information, I wasn't bored. This book is the opposite of fluffy self help books that offer answers with no real work or self reflection. Any "homework" suggested that seems like maybe too much work is reinforced by the author's own story, where he implemented what he teaches. He also provides interesting examples using other people to take the theory and make it practical. I am definitely recommending this book to a few people I know who could also benefit from some grounded advice.

Learning to commit By Alexandra Zapata People often ask me "what advice would you give the 25 year old you"?My new answer is: I'd hand her this book.She'd read it and realize she mustn't ever believe everything she thinks. That all her relationships with every single one of her family members will mark a path for the relationship with her significant other. (I know. Gulp, right?) Because you need to work on yourself if anything else is to ever work at all. But most of all because life is not about finding your fairy tale: the knight, the horse, the castle, your soulmate. Life is about creating your fairy tale, and this book will tell you how.

This book was about keeping and holding secrets. It kept my attention because I couldn't put the book down until I learned the secret. It took longer then I expected to find it out. Once everything came out it was on and popping. I will recommend this stand alone book. A couple of characters needs a spin-off.

I didn't know if she was going to make it out of the warehouse after being kidnapped by her monster of a husband Jerome. Or if Boyle was going to be killed before he could rescue her. Was she really his property after he spent a million dollars for her or was it more than that. This is a great book.

The plot of this book starts off very slow and I skipped or three chapters to get to a good part of the book . This is just my opinion of the plot . This book is about a young lady running from her past and find herself in the wrong place at the right time . The billionaire fell in love with her at first sight and made his mission to rescue her from her past. However, the way the book ended you would think there would be a second book.

By Roxie This was a fast paced story that brought adventure and excitement from the very beginning. I would like to get to know the characters more but what I did get to know was they did have chemistry even though it was within a short time span. It is a good short read that you just want to applaud the underdog for stepping out of fear. The moment of coming together was a true delight. I really loved the moment of them coming together but let's not dwell on those moments. I think you will like it. Give it a try.

The whole idea of stepbrother - stepsister was a bit on the different side to me. The author made it a point to clearly rid the reader of any discomfort he or she might have.I read the first book and looked forward to how the story of how Alex and Emily would progress. The couple's progression into BDSM was believable and the I loved the way the story was written.This is a book I would definitely recommend if BBW / BWWM genre is something you enjoy.

The whole idea of stepbrother - stepsister was a bit off putting to me at first but, the author made it a point to quickly and concisely rid the reader of any discomfort he or she might have with the premise.I read the first book and looked forward to how the story of how Alex and Emily would progress. I am pleasantly pleased with the way the story line is going. Adding the relative (Aunt Catherine) to the mix made it even more enjoyable...Looking forward to the next installment!

By omega The cover of the book turn me off I am not fan of tattoos and the only reason I read the book because I had to give a review. Once I started reading I did not until I finish it. Alex is a saint for putting up with Emily and her issue. Emily in some parts of the story she acts very childish and I just wants to put her in a corner and leave her there. Over all the book is a great read even better to read them both. I did enjoy Alex and Emily story I hope there is a part 3 where Emily comes in to her own.

By BookAddict I am a First Quarter Type according to the Universal Lunar Calendar because I was born on the First Quarter of the Moon. This book offered some interesting advice for my type and explained what things I should or shouldn’t do at given times. It’s pretty accurate about my personality as well but of course I am a little skeptical about slightly vague descriptions. I like how “DIY Astrology” uses examples from pop culture or media (i.e. celebrities and current events) to back up its claims. This book is 477 pages but of course you don’t need to read through all of it. You just need to find out your type and read all the advice related to it. You can also read this with your family and friends. The introduction is well written and the entire book is clearly written by an expert. Alex Kay obviously knows what he’s talking about. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in doing some DIY Astrology. There are things you can figure out for yourself without seeing an astrologist! 4/5 stars!

What a great guide to astrology By TFLReader Astrology and astrological signs have always interested me but I never really understood how astrologists came up with the information that they did. Thanks to author Alex Kay's "DIY Astrology", now I do. This fantastic guide contains everything you ever wanted to know about astrology, from the different approaches to it, explanations of the phases of the moon, and what the various phases of the moon mean. There is a detailed chart for every year from 1900 to 2050 that details the moon phases for each year so that you can pinpoint exactly when you, or a loved one, were born on the lunar calendar. A fantastic guide that has taught me a lot.

I love the vibrant artwork and the beautiful, affirming messages. I have been looking for and hoping for an inspiring, new deck of affirmation cards. My first ever deck of affirmation cards was the lovely Juicy Living Cards by SARK. Then, I found and loved Cheryl Richardson's My Daily Affirmation Cards. And then I moved on to Power Thought Cards by Louise Hay. At some point, I usually begin to feel like the cards have served me well enough and it's time for them to help others, so I begin giving them away to friends and family in cards or letters. And then I need a new deck for me. This deck is perfect for my next deck and my next stage of life! Thank you, Kris and Lori, for creating these!

The messages I have received from the deck have been so spot on too! On top of the lovely messages, the paintings on the cards are enchanting and make me so happy! This is one of Tracy best books yet to come. Criminal Minded will take you there and back (and thats a good thing). Criminal minded is the type of book that you can relate to at lesat one of the charchters. I would tell anyone to get this book because it is wroth the money and the time. I read this book in less then four hours. Now that Tracy has writing and let the world read Criminal Minded it only show's that Ms.Brown has Skills and is one of the best writer's yet to come. I gave this book 5 star's if I could I would give it more. I said it once and i'll say it again TRACY has a pen of MAGIC!!!!!!!

It started off rocky because in trying to tell the story from both perspectives we were essentially repeating ourselves and that was annoying, By the middle of the book you started showing both points of view but at least it was a different storyline for each perspective so from that point on the book got really good and I really enjoyed reading this book.
