This book is part philosophy and part work-out guide. It has been crafted for heathens who understand the body as a key to finding a pathway to the gods. Our attitude is simple, yet radical. We are going to make no apologies for what can be attained by the human body and mind. We make no apologies for our desire of strength and our abhorrence of weakness! We make no apologies for the strength of our gods! BY FORGING A WILL AND BODY OF IRON WE MOLD OURSELVES LIKE THE GODS WHO REIGN UP HIGH. THERE ODIN WILL GREET US AT THE GATES AS WORTHY OF HIS HALLS. Why become a heathen warrior? Somewhere in the world there are men training. They are training to kill you. They are training to be better than you. To over take you when the get they chance. They have not fallen for the lie that weakness is some kind of virtue to be admired. Now the question stands... Are you prepared? Preparation begins by becoming strong. The stronger you are the harder you are to kill. As we train to become the elite warriors of our gods, we are transforming ourselves into a living and breathing rune of strength. Our rune is Uruz. Our mission is to become it with no apologies or excuses. The predator never apologizes to its prey. Like so, you shall train. For it is better to be strong than it is to be weak. Strength is to become something admired. Something godly. It is a divine gift, but not without sacrifice. Strength is difficult to obtain. But with hard work and the right orientation, you can obtain it. Now is the time to join the ranks of the gods and heroes of the past. Train for Valhalla. Be prepared for Ragnarök.

As a trainer I am always interested in reading other people's take on fitness. I feel like it helps me to expand my knowledge base and become a better trainer. I was interested to see how the heathen perspective would play into this guide. The trouble I found here was the promised philosophy just didn't deliver. The chapter on runes started out promising but really didn't go anywhere other then a brief description of "being" the rune uruz. Outside of that the remaining philosophy component seemed to be more "I am heathen hear me roar!" then any legitimate thought of this meant. I hoped it would get better. I was wrong. The "work out guide" portion is more or less a description of different exercises which you could find on any exercise website for free. The number of exercises listed is very limited and there is no information on how to progress/regress difficulty or build work outs. A beginner is going to be out of their depth and an intermediate isn't going to get anything out of this. Meanwhile with the limited nature of exercises listed you are going to plateau easily and are likely to develop muscle imbalances. On a side note, the majority of the pictures didn't really do much for the text other then make it look like some one went crazy with clip art and seriously random stock photos, so visually not a stunner either. The nutrition section was what really got me. This section focused almost exclusively on protein, specifically meat and dairy sources and provided no back up for the claims made. It wasn't anywhere near nutritionally sound advice by modern or traditional standards.

The philosophy was solid, and the concept is badass. The things I would like to see are more about the runes, body weight workouts, some basic weapons/unarmed combat mindsets/techniques, and some thing about diet.Runes. I would like to see a full set of runes, elder, younger, and Saxon. Meanings and comparisons.Body weight workouts. The Germanic people didn't have barbells and dumb bells. It's great to use them if you have them, but they did not use them, and not everyone can afford a gym membership or afford to have 300-600 pounds of weights, benches, bars, clamps, etc. I would like to see a section on 100% body weight and sword/shield/armor weight workouts, and boat rowing if possible in your area. Vikings loved boats and rowing.Combat. I know you can't get too far into combat training without a teacher standing there and making you regret you mistakes and correcting your form. That being said, If you aren't training to fight someone, you aren't training. Basic sword, shield, and unarmed fighting theory could easily be expressed through a book, as well as the philosophy behind the warrior mindset.Diet. If you work out without considering the effects of diet on training, you are only going to realize about half of your potential. Very basic nutrition, what plants contain which nutrients vital to working out. How much protein is in different kinds of meat, and how much of each type of protein and amino acids you need per pound/kg of body weight to rebuild muscle and maintain, gain, or lose weight. The evils of cortisol and how to reduce cortisol in your body. This book is a great start. I love what you guys are doing here.

I primarily focus on strength training. Following the Aesir 9 set method I have been able to make massive gains in the gym. Whether or not you train, however, this book has some gems:First, I loved the chapter on harnessing the runes of power. Combining the rune uruz with hagalaz enhanced my understanding of the runes and combining them. I have been practicing the runic mental exercises the book suggests every day. With clarity and vision of them I have been able to grasp a deeper understanding of myself and the Norse religion. I feel competent enough to achieve my goals on a daily basis. The runes communicate with us in more ways than you know!Secondly, this book has motivated me to enhance myself and have a new vision of what the gods are. The heathen imperative is to become the strongest version of yourself and make the gods proud. Ragnarok is coming and I want to be ready for it.All together this book is an awesome esoteric, get your ass up and conquer manual! I’ve never seen anything else in heathenry like it. I recommend it for anyone getting into the norse religion or for anybody who has been into it for years.
