Can be a bit annoying seeing so much of the next / previous pages through the current page! But, this is a great Bible. Very classy looking. I was trying to find a Message version that didn't look like a pre-teen owned it -- and HERE IT IS!

I think what is talked about in this book can be applied to all and also on a personal level. This book will change how you do business and who you do business with. The concepts and principles are also ones to make you a better person and partner/spouse/parent/friend. I have never read a book that I wanted to share more than this book. I am donating a copy to my library and also having one at my small business for clients to "check out" to read. Dale Partridge has so many good points in this book--my own copy is highlighted throughout. It's an easy read, keeps you engaged and he doesn't ramble on. I seriously hope that this book with be read by many and the concepts adopted because this is what can change business in our country and also personal lives as well.

We so deeply need nations, businesses, and people who live with the belief that all people matter and this book is going to be an agent of change in the lives of many. This book has opened my eyes to the importance of connecting with the consumer or business depending on which side of the relationship you are on. It highlights building a good company. Personally, I have no "calling," as Dale refers to it in his book to start a business, but I found most of the values he touched on were aspects of every day life, not just for starting a business or fixing your business. It was an easy read, well researched and had adaptable principals for EVERY relationship in one's life.

9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Mission Accomplished By Molly Polly This commentary accomplishes exactly what the Author, Leighton Flowers, intended and more. Flowers expresses his desire for the readers to fully understand why he had to denounce his belief in Calvinism. He leads the reader through his personal journey of discovery and shares the struggle he faced having learned that his long held, beloved beliefs had been wrong. His desire to know God's intended truth, leads to a wonderful, in-depth analysis of Romans 9. Flowers breaks down a relatively, difficult topic and passage in a way that is understandable, even to someone who is not knowledgeable of Calvinism. His writing stays on topic and in context making the reading easier to understand. I learned so much more about Calvinism and Romans 9. For me personally his analysis of this chapter is spot on in reconciling the text to the Living God in whom I serve. It could not have been easy for Leighton Flowers to openly, publicly denounce this belief. He stood to lose far more than what he would gain. It is refreshing to know there are still some men of God today who will hearken to The Lord and follow truth no matter what it costs. I highly recommend everyone read this commentary and then follow Flower's instruction and "stop and re-read Romans 9 through 11 all the way through from start to finish with this merciful motive in mind. See if you find a divine Father shamefully cutting off children before they are even born, or see if you find a Father mercifully seeking and even longing for the reconciliation of all." All I can really say is, this is wonderful. Anyone who reads this with a heart to really want to know the truth, will come away with truth. Thank you Brother Flowers.

I loved the chapter that went verse by verse on Romans 9. One of my favorite quotes from the book is "In short, I believe God knows the choices of His creatures because He is omniscient, not because He is “omni- deterministic.”Definitely worth your time as you seek to better understand God's plan of salvation and difficult passages like Romans 9.

I guess I will have to wait and read book 3 to see if the good people come out on top. I will end by saying there needs to be some happiness for two of the main characters.

The story took a completely different turn. I understand the whole concept the author is shooting for, but it just left me confused! All these new people were incorporated into the story, and then certain parts were rushed. And it seems like this book was based on Lexi, more than anybody else! I also didn't like what happened with Darius and Sandy...

The early 1950's - 1970's was a time of great change. I prayed growing up as a child not understanding what it all ment. But as I grew, so did my prayers.I learned what it ment to spend time with God. I would take long walks or sit under a tree and praise Him for all I had for the day. This book brought back the desire to stay close to God daily. Thanks to all who shared.

The only reason I give it 3 stars is that it leaves out the beginning part from the actual book. We are doing a bible study with this book at my church so I bought the kindle version to follow along but the first day came and the beginning chapter was left out. There are 5 parts to the regular book but only 4 for the kindle version.

The story line was good and the synopsis had me waiting for this book to be released but It could have been better. Some parts I read felt like I was reading my 12 yr old's writing. Please take your time next go round. It was rushed and an editor was definitely needed.

From Rosie's Curl and Weave, to Island Magic to Della's, they are back with the supper club Leo's located in Washingto DC.Rochelle Aler's A Second chance looks at love with the mature Leigh and Dr. Scott Alexander. Can Leigh let go of the past and find love with Dr. Scott?My favorite story Donna Hill's Eye of the Beholder. Plain Jae comes to Leo with her friend and when she is left alone for a moment she is spotted by the charming Clyde. She wows them at the supper club with her voice, but can she forgive Clyde for his lies?Brenda Jackson's Main Agenda is another great read. The Anderson sisters only know they have to be sucessful and accomplish all of their goals before they would even consider marriage. Great stories by romance's best By Dera R Williams These four authors have established themselves in the black romance genre and in romance period as excellent writers with a large following. In the tradition of Della's House of Style the protaganists meet and romance in a common place, Leo's. Leo's is a deluxe supper club in Washington D.C. that caters to the movers and shakers, buppies, and those in the know. In Main Agenda by Brenda Jackson, an attorney sees the woman at Leo's who rocked his word five years prior during spring break. He let her go before, but now he has a chance to rectify that. She, on the other hand knows he was the ONE but she is carrying baggage about relationships that will not allow her to put love in the equation that might jeopardize her career. In Rochelle Aler's Second Chance, an event planner sprains her foot, end ups in the emergency room, and gets treated by the head of the department. This widower lost her husband and son to an accident thirty years ago and closed her heart to romance. The doctor at fifty-five has never married or had a serious entanglement, that is until this lovely lady needs his professional care. In Eye of the Beholder by Donna Hill, a church going professor captures the attention of a player who represents entertainers at Leo's. He lies about his profession because he feels he wouldn't stand a chance with her. She is drawn to his caring manner. Can their love stand the truth? In Sweet Temptation by Francis Ray, a Texas Ranger is in D.C. teaching a class and gives a call to the owner of a candy/gift shop as a courtesy to his supervisor's wife. He figures he is not in her league, but when she sends him a gift basket he is intrigued. They meet at Leo's and sparks fly. I know a person who was abused mentally, verbally and physically and I couldn't understand why they stayed as long as they did. She was an achiever in every aspect in her life. She gave&still give great advice. She has a Master's Degree. For the life of me I couldn't get it,but I had my #AhaMoment reading this book! The details in this book had my feelings up&down,asking why this&what the...and I even had my moments of laughter. This is a great read,the author poured out her life to us on every page!

The Mother at Home: Or the Principles of Maternal Duty Familiarly Illustrated (Classic Reprint), by John S. C. Abbott

About the Author John Stevens Cabot Abbott (September 19, 1805 June 17, 1877), an American historian, pastor, and pedagogical writer, was born in Brunswick, Maine to Jacob and Betsey Abbott. He was a brother of Jacob Abbott, and was associated with him in the management of Abbott's Institute, New York City, and in the preparation of his series of brief historical biographies. Dr. Abbott graduated at Bowdoin College in 1825, prepared for the ministry at Andover Theological Seminary, and between 1830 and 1844, when he retired from the ministry in the Congregational Church, preached successively at Worcester, Roxbury and Nantucket, all in Massachusetts. Owing to the success of a little work, The Mother at Home, he devoted himself, from 1844 onwards, to literature. He was a voluminous writer of books on Christian ethics, and of popular histories, which were credited with cultivating a popular interest in history. He is best known as the author of the widely popular History of Napoleon Bonaparte (1855), in which the various elements and episodes in Napoleon's career are described. Abbott takes a very favourable view towards his subject throughout. Also among his principal works are: History of the Civil War in America (1863-1866), and The History of Frederick II, Called Frederick the Great (New York, 1871). In general, except that he did not write juvenile fiction, his work in subject and style closely resembles that of his brother, Jacob Abbott.

70 of 71 people found the following review helpful. a must for both parents By A Customer This book, written(1833)before the psycho-babble days of Freud and others, is tuned into the realities and seriousness of child rearing. His eloquent and powerful illustrations provoke a parent to focus on the child's soul; not just their mind (i.e. education) or body (i.e.health). He clearly understood that the child will one day grow up; and how you raise him now will effect how he turns out later (proverbs 22:6). I sincerely recommend that both mother and father read it together, and discuss what is read. It has given my husband and I unity in our parenting, and a better understanding of why we do what we do with our children. I reccommend this book to everyone I know who has children. It has been one of the most helpful, to the point, books I have read outside of the Bible.

It focuses on common mistakes parents make and the most reasonable means to solve them. This book is hard to find, I have been looking for it for more than a year. Don't pass it up, you won't be disappointed.

Thought provoking By MaterMagistraX4 This is a book to be read and re-read.I will allow, as another person mentioned, that in places the author advocates what at first seems harsh to our modern notions of child raising. But, the author also instructs, "Guard against too much severity. By pursuing a steady course of efficient government, severity will very seldom be found necessary. If, when punishment is inflicted, it is done with composure and with solemnity, occasions for punishment will be very infrequent. Let a mother ever be affectionate and mild with her children. Let her sympathize with them in their little sports. Let her gain their confidence by her assiduous efforts to make them happy. And let her feel when they have done wrong, not irritated, but sad; and punish them in sorrow, but not in anger. Fear is a useful and a necessary principle in family government. God makes use of it in governing his creatures. But it is ruinous to the disposition of a child, exclusively to control him by this motive. How unhappy must be that family where the parent always sits with a face deformed with scowls, and where the voice is always uttered in tones of severity and command! ... Every effort should be made to make home the most desirable place; to gather around it associations of delight; and thus to form in the mind of your child an attachment for peaceful and purifying enjoyments."One of the things that I most learned from this book was how much I need to change ME, before I expect my children to be 'perfectly obedient'. "The parent must strive to be herself just what she wishes her child to be. She must cherish in her own spirit those virtues and those graces which she desires to see as the embellishments of the character of her child. Our children have more right to expect that we shall be model parents than we have to require that they shall be model children. ...I am to teach my child to avoid vanity, and pride, and selfishness, by cultivating within myself, with never tiring assiduity, the spirit of lowliness, of humility, of self-sacrifice. It is thus, more effectually than in any other way, that I am to reach and influence his heart. So I am to curb the impetuous passions of my child, mainly by gaining the victory over myself, and bringing all my own passions under perfect control."There is so much good in this book!
