Spins Her Web and Then Kills By Joanie When I read this sentence on the first page, “I killed my first human being at the age of twelve,” I knew it’ll be a suspenseful, fast-paced story. I wasn’t disappointed and I couldn’t put it down until I reluctantly read the last word. The story begins when Zenobia and her best friend Shelby are kids and are trying to get away from a neighborhood bully. No one knows how the bully dies and his death was ruled an accident. Fast-forward years later when Zenobia is an adult and married. No one knows that she is the “Widow Maker,” a person who has been hunting down and torturing and then killing men who are abusers. But how long can she keep her activities a secret? Her husband, a police sergeant, suspects that his wife is having an affair. Little does he know . . . instead of sex on his wife’s mind . . . it’s murder!

I honestly didn't feel one ounce of pity for him. I'm wondering how Aaron haven't figured out what his wife have been up too. Zenobia is no joke I guess some would say what she's doing is for a good cause but she is truly sadistic and judging by the way it ended. She may want to think about slowing down.

Our 6 year old was able to read it to other members of the family to the joy of all.This book has a great message with wonderful pictures to keep the attention of even the youngest of readers.Our 6 year old was reading with anticipation of what the secret is. When the secret was revealed at the end of the story a big smile came on her face. She agreed that is a good secret.I think you will find this to be a very affirming book.Tom

I shared this book with my 3rd graders as part of my lesson for teaching moral/theme of the story. Great message! We skyped with the author asking him about his books and the writing process he went through. We wrote him our opinion about his two children's books. My class all ordered one of his books. Our PTA helped cover the cost for part of the books. Each child will be receiving a signed copy tomorrow! Great experience!

She is still bitter and hoping to wake up from her nightmare until she meets Wayne. We fall head over heels deep in love that we forget that our needs should come first. No one should ever wipe the smile off of your face but that’s what Aubrey and Janelle were going through. They allowed their tears and pain to come from a man that they were head over heels in love with.

They had an amazing bond. I also loved Wayne and Dante. They were hood, but still knew how to carry themselves as well as treat their woman. Now Princess Kyra was my all time favorite. That little girl was just too funny! I couldn't stand Carlos. He deserves everything his delusional self receives. He really didn't see anything wrong with his actions. SMH. Now that ending left me completely speechless. I don't know if things will continue to remain the same and moving in a positive direction or take a turn for the worse. I hope things continue to move forward and the girls can continue to be happy! I can't wait for part two. Shantay and Kim great job!

Janelle is her own boss but losing the love of her Jay 2 years prior has her heart lockdown. Brey finally tired of Carlos leaves for good, an a secret admirer catches her eye. Kyra is a 4 year old going on 25 with the stuff that comes out her mouth. Brey,kyra, and nelle get some new men in their lives and they couldn't be happier. Carlos is a dog and a deadbeat I don't feel sorry for him when his own child doesn't want him as her daddy. Dante and Wayne being in the girls lives is wonderful,but their street life might interfere when it hits close to home. That shocking ending tho I need more ladies can't wait for book 2.

About the Author In 1985, at the age of 18, Chris Abani was imprisoned following the publication of his first novel. He was released six months later. When his second novel, Sirocco, was published in 1987, it was seized by government forces and his publisher forced to close. That same year he was again arrested, detained and accused of sedition for performing anti-government plays. In 1991, after the performance of his play, Song of a Broken Flute, he was arrested for the third time and held on death row. He now lives in London. Kalakuta Republic is based on his experience as political prisoner between 1985 and 1991.

The pain and the inhumanity of other people.It also left me speechless with regard to myself. It reminded me of what is important in life and how important it is, at whatever level, to do the right thing, no matter how difficult.The poet's tale of incaceration for his writing in Nigeria's old regimes is a humbling one. It is also an inspiring one. No other book in the last ten years has moved me as much.The poems are beautifully balanced pieces with a clear narrative. The Language, while simple, achieves a complex poetic form - the rendering of life into words.This book is a must read!!!!

In a genre overloaded by self indulgent writing, Abani's work is fresh and new. The voice is raw, the subject mater engaging, powerful and definately distrubing.The poems themselves are actually quite easy to read - form wise that is! The contents on the other hand are difficult. They narrate the terror of the writer as a prisoner of consceince and where others hold back, Abani lets you have it in the face!It is not often that a writer can pull off a piece of work this good, but Abani succeeded.Read it!

It addresses the realities kids face that most parents have forgotten about and so helps to build understanding. There are so many things out there that makes kids feel inferior. This book is a must to build a solid sense of identity in your child and will create intimacy between parent and child. I recommend it to every parent I know.

About the Author Faye L. Hall is the program director and Jeff L. Merkert is the co-director of Healing Hearts Family Based Mental Health in Harrisburg, PA. Hall lives in Glen Rock, PA, and Merkert lives in Dover, PA.John A. Biever, M.D., a Distinguished Life Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association, received his MD from Penn State University College of Medicine, PA. He is a general and child/adolescent psychiatrist in private practice at the Quittie Glen Center for Mental Health in Annville, PA. and a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Biever is also a consultant in child psychiatry to the Pennsylvania State Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. By Amazon Customer This book is outstanding for parents who need guidance in raising children with Early Trauma! It gives real life examples of families going through the struggles associated with raising adopted and/or fostered children. It explains how to begin helping to overcome these challenges and to begin healing the family base as well as the child. As a parent of this type of child, this is the first book ( as well as our experiences with multiple counselors) that truly understands what it takes to parent these children. I highly recommend this book!

I love the practical help and all of the resources that they added. I also appreciated the stories woven through the book to personalize how these issues play out in families. Understanding the negative working model and the strategies for working with my child(ren) as well as working with the author/s to implement the strategies in our family have totally changed our household for the better. I recommend this book to parents and professionals alike.
