The media spread my face nationwide on every newspaper known to man when the story first broke. It read: James King. Son of wealthy, ambitious hotel owner, Victoria King, busted for cocaine possession. Let's be honest. I've always been a rebel, a little rough around the edges. The black sheep of the family. The outcast. No one ever thought twice about me, not even when I was arrested. The only thing is I didn't really do it, but I served time for the crime.

Today, my freedom was granted to me. I was permitted to leave this prison that I had lived in for the last 16 months. The guards opened my cell, grinned, and told me I could finally go back home. Home? See, it wouldn't be my home. It would be her home. I have no home of my own anymore.

Funny thing about being locked up is that you lose everything, including yourself. You no longer exist to the outside world. You're transparent, at least that's how I felt until I met Emily. She was kind, and in my world, people like her were far and few between. I was drawn to her like a magnet. I wanted her, but I'd kill myself trying to get her because she's damaged. I just didn't know it yet.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. great cover, great premise, disappointing delivery By Carrie Marie *sigh* This is a case of a fantastic premise being bogged down with choppy writing and a story that seemed to be all over the place. :( I really wanted to like this more than I did. This is told in first person from James's POV, with one chapter from Emily's POV. James just got out of prison for a crime he didn't commit. Emily works for his mom. His mom is evil. EEEEVIIIIL. There is this whole back & forth thing w/ James & Emily, and they're not really together through most of the story. And when they are together, it's a lot of back & forth of them being happy (10%) and unhappy (90%). It tainted my enjoyment of what was a really fabulous storyline, unfortunately. When things are finally beginning to get resolved, BAM!, we're hit w/ what - to me - was an unnecessary return to that back & forth stuff. And then, BAM!, they're back together & everything is resolved & then it's the end.*sigh* So, all in all, not one I would recommend, but I'm glad I read it. And that cover - the cover should win an award of some sort! : )

Fantastic choice. Sadly, this story fell completely apart for me. It was all over the place. Characters seemed to be thrown in just for filler purposes. The back and forth fighting, no I don't want to be with you or no I really love you was overwhelming. Jame's inner dialogue and constant self question asking was too much. The timeline seemed really off as well. If I'm not mistaken the book cover about 3-4 months of time. A lot happens during that time, but nothing seems to have completion or closure or explanation. I was really confused by the end of the book. He's been disowned, has no money, a baby on the way but takes insurance money and purchases a "Beamer" and will still have payments on it..??? Next thing you know, in the last few percent of the book everything has changed. By the time I was finished, my head was spinning.
