By JYH In Chapter I of Poetic Scrolls, also available as The Spirit of My Heart, Bruce Daley demonstrates the joy writing poetry can bring to a soul. Searching for meaning in life, sharing love of family, yearning for a less complex and more honest American life, and communicating the challenges of the African-American family are themes creatively interwoven into poems of angst, yet optimism.The intensity of the writing begs for further analysis and introspection, making this book so very hard to put down. A great tome for group reading and discussion, along with inspiration for finding an individuals's role in making the world better each day. I look forward to reading the next chapters and intend to comment appropriately. Bravo, Mr. Daley!The intensity of Chapter II comes from attempts to sort out the questions no man or woman has ever fully understood: what is love vs. lust; why we continue to cheat; what is love for a lover vs. a child; can love endure; search for trust; and many, many other enduring dilemma.
