I don’t know a single parent who does not fall into the trap of lecturing his/her kids. In Taming the Lecture Bug…and Getting Your Kids to Think, Joey and Carla Link define the problem and get to the heart of it. They provide practical tools for taming our lecture prone tongues and proven methods for getting your kids to be responsible for their own behavior. These methods are not just cool tricks. They work because they are based on sound Biblical principles and insights that get to the heart of why we parent the way we do and how and why our children are motivated to make the choices they do. Learning to transfer the ownership of their actions and behaviors to our children will not only teach them to think but also to live out the values we are trying to instill in them. How do I know this stuff works? I used these principles to tame my own lecture bug and raise my boys to be responsible adults. Trust me, you want these tools in your parenting toolbox!

By rstah This book is full of practical parenting insight about some of the mistakes we make as parents and how we can set our kids up to succeed in following our instructions and get them to think. My husband and I have applied their technique of asking questions, which has led to some terrific dialog with our teens and helped us to move beyond some issues we were having. The parenting tools presented here are useful for all ages, elementary years to teens and young adults. We really appreciate the Links' wisdom and experience and highly recommend this book to others who may be frustrated with their kids not taking ownership and carrying out instructions. Practical advice to ease family frustration, build kids' confidence and strengthen your relationship with your kids! Great book!

It's no-nonsense approach gave practical advice on how to stop lecturing your children and get them to think for themselves! As a parent of four, this information was a game-changer in our home. We learned how to ask questions to get our kids to take ownership of their behavior. The chart provided was a tremendous help in working through issues with our children and helping them to see the consequences of their actions AND their attitudes. I'd highly recommend this!
