By deanna james The cover caught my attention right away. After reading the synopsis I knew this book was going to be a great read. A young man taking a plunge off a 30 story building. What in life could be so horrible to make someone do that? This book was well written. It started out a little on the slow side but quickly took off. I loved the fact that each floor Rich fell told a story of life leading to his fate. Rich wanted to get his life together. He would've done so. His mistake was hooking back up with Quan. His life spiraled out of control. The deeper he got in the harder it was for him to get out. Rich made his decisions and knew what the outcome could possibly be. In the end Rich knew the life he lead and the lives he took would eventually catch up to him. He was prepared to pay with his life if that was his destiny. Everything his father instilled in him was imbedded in his brain. If he was to go out he would like a man. In his mind jumping off that building to face the ultimate death was his way as going out like a G.Throughout the book the author keep me interested. Truly a page turner. Murder, drugs, corrupted police, betrayal, Sex and living in the fast lane. this book had it all. I didn't want the book to end. Mainly because I knew what the outcome would be. Although I hoped some kind of miracle would. Just some wishful thinking. It's fiction right? Great read. The Cunning Linquist is definitely an author to keep tabs on.4 The Reader N U

As we make choices, we learn lessons along the way. What we do with the choices and lessons are up to us.Rich introduced himself in the prologue by jumping off a thirty story building. What a way to open up. Rich has just touched down after completing a five year bid. He hasn't been successful in finding employment. He wants to stay out of trouble, but sometimes trouble finds you.Rich jumps back into the streets head first. It's sure to be trouble, and more than he bargained for. He goes toe to toe with enemies, cops, and trouble. Rich seems as if things will be better but we all know the streets have a way of raising you or killing you. Rich is in an all out war and at times he is losing and others he's winning.Along the way, Rich reflects back on his upbringing and lessons learned from his father. His father was 100% just let and imparted jewels of the streets to Rich. Rich thinks back to the lessons throughout the story and shows his intelligence.I am giving four stars. The Linguist grabbed my attention and kept it. This was not your typical street story, with glitz and glamour. It was realistic.

The one thing that really caught my attention with this book was the cover. The cover had me wondering what was going to happen and why was this man jumping from a building. Once I read the book, I realized it had to do with the number of levels to the building and how each level had a story with it. Once I started reading the book, I struggled to read it in the beginning because it was a little slow but once the book moved along, I was captivated by the each story that I read. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and I will pick up another book from this author very soon. Try something new and grab this book. Its not your normal urban read and that's what makes it so unique.4 THE READER NU
