Ben Cox Mrs. Leonore Piper of Boston was one of the most amazing Spiritualist mediums to ever do "the work". She was thoroughly investigated by William James, James Hyslop, Oliver Lodge and others from Harvard, Columbia and University of Pennsylvania. She was found to be accurate in an amazing number of her readings and she also was able to give proof of the existence of life after death. This book is a report on all the investigative work done on her. Not only is it a fascinating read, but its all true. This book will intrigue even the most skeptical reader.

Lynch Although I've always been pretty much convinced of the paranoraml based on the evidence (public and personal), I've always tended to take a dim view of the whole idea of spirit communication. However, this book, being a summary of the reasearch of several different investigators, left me forced to re-evaluate my position. Mrs Piper was not the modern type of psychic who gives vague catch-all type information that can mean whatever the seeker wants. She gave names of people, places, information unknown to the seeker. Hyslop in his own works basically came to the conclusion that the then current alternative of explaining these things by telepathy required a much greater leap of faith since investigations of telepathy had never revealed it to have such far ranging capacities. At a certain point, Occam's razor kind of forces one to the conclusion that life after death in some form is in fact the simplest explanation for these things.It should be noted that it was common for the investigators to remain anonymous and unseen by Mrs Piper herself. And yet the communications were almost always fairly specific to the investigator.Further material can be had in James Hyslop's "Contact with the Other World" among other books.

Very interesting By kandr Sage has summarized Leonora Piper's work through the early 1900's, saving us from having to search through the Proceedings from the Society for Psychical Research. Very interesting historical piece, including his own analysis of reported information.
