As I have stated before, I HATE to write negative reviews, I understand how hard it is to put pen to paper... or fingers to keyboard...whatever (smile), the point is, I understand how hard it is, then all the work to get it online, the editing, marketing, etc. Believe me writers, I GET IT. So most of the time instead of writing a poor review, I just suck it up. Not this time.But first, two positives. First, the cover was beautiful. Well done. Second, I really liked the character of Jacob. Now to the rest of the book.Boy Howdy, this book was a hot mess. First the Hero was a weak jerk. He felt he could not leave his wife because he took a vow. But you never got WHY he took his vow so seriously. You never really understood who he was and how he allowed his wife to TREAT him. No. no way, I canna go there (faking a Scottish accent). No, not every Hero has to be an alpha male, but he DOES have to be a male. This guy was a mop.Now the Heroine, well, I honestly don't know where to start. I know nothing of her, her age, what kind of work she does, how she looks, beyond the basics, nothing. She doesn't work but she owns a house. She was going to marry her 1st love while still in HIGH SCHOOL, she was still in college, but we never know what she is studying, we never know how old she was or anything about her family or friends. She had her head in the clouds...or in my world she was a silly, immature girly-woman child just wanting to have a baby...why? How did she get the money to go through the process? The only reason I could figure out why she wanted to have a child was because she didn't want to have her heart broken again? WHAT????? THAT'S a reason to have a child? How unfair to the child?? How was she going to take care of the child? What was her plan? GURRRRR (pulling my hair out in frustration!!!)I'm not going to write about the "ex's". I refuse to waste my time or my computer power on those two. You know a book is bad when the only character that had any sense was a secondary one that didn't even have a last name.Ms. Howard, this book was bad. Period. Technically, it was all tell, not show. The plot points were silly, the characterizing was woefully incomplete, the pacing ponderous. I don't know if you had a proofreader or an editor. I'm hoping for your sake it was a proofreader, because if it was an editor, he/she is not your friend and you should fire them immediately. This book read like a rough first draft.Please understand, I am NOT flaming you or hating on you. I am not that type of person. I am avid reader and it distresses me when I read a book like this. Everyone has a bad day. But this book was so bad I don't know if I will read you again.Sorry.

He was so dumb I couldn't even wrap my mind around him being a billionaire, because honestly he was so gullible and stupid I feel like anyone could have taken his fortune. This was the ABSOLUTE WORST book I've ever read. It was everything terrible wrapped into one... predictable, doormat hero, sex between people other than the hero & heroine (even after watching his wife screw another guy unprotected he has sex with her immediately unprotected... lets just serve everyone including the heroine a STD on a gold platter), etc. I could go on and on.

I would describe him as a wimpy, stupid fool and a glutton for punishment! This characterization is not romantic in real life and even less so on the page. I don't know how this man could be a billionaire businessman. I don't know how an author could write this trash and put it up for sale. I will return it for a refund. I would hope that anyone who was subjected to the type of treatment meted out to the hero in this book would call a divorce lawyer post haste rather than try to infect the gene pool as a first resort.
