Growing up as a child, Nancy saw the obsession her Grandmother Peerman had with her Father to control, his Life. Nancy Grandfather Fischer had offered to buy a home for Art, Ruth and their children, but because of grandmothers Peerman interference, Dad refused Grandpa Fisher's offer. It was after that, the children's lives took a spiral turn down. Nancy suffered torment and abuse, and was shoved from pillar to post. But she learned feeling sorry for yourself can destroy a person. She also learned what common sense was at an early age, and how to survive. Nancy not only took control of her own circumstances, but her younger brothers and sisters as well. When Nancy came to the realization, nobody cared, including her own mother, Nancy had a passion in her heart, and took it upon herself to see her brothers and sister were taken care of. Be it begging, borrowing, or stealing. Seeing the smile on their faces, going to bed at night, with a full stomach, or watching their faces light up when they saw the shoes, or clothing Nancy stole from the goodwill store. Nancy never felt guilty. She called it survival. There was also a time when her mother's friend tried talk my mom into farming her children out to her friends, as housekeepers, babysitters, or companions. But the plan didn't come to fruition because of the love the kids had for one an other. If Nancy had to live her life over again, if need be, Nancy would do it again. The only thing she truly regrets is growing up to fast.

But when life hands you a bucket of nails instead of roses, because of the decisions adults make, sone children learn to take control and grow up fast in order to take care of those who need food in thei stomachs and clothes on their backs. That was me as a child, I hated seeing my younger brothers and sisters suffer over the mastakes myfather and mother made. I did everthing in my power to help any way I could, be it barrowing, begging or stealing just so they could survive. On my own I had to learn to survive when my adult sister and her husband left me alone in the mountains through the winter months. I was pushed from piller to post once I was home by the school system and was accused of ditching school. I was put in the detention center at the age of twelve. When it was time to leave the detention I didn't want to, because I felt like I had found stability.But because life must go on and I did return home to find a whole new set of circumstances that I had to deal with living in the projects. Where I learned to grow up fast.About the AuthorEditI was born and grew up in Denver Colorado. I attended my grade school years at Perry School, and a school in Nederland Colorado my Junior high years at Barnum and Horace Mann. I didn't finish high school until after I married. I went on to get my GED after I married Raymond R. Sanchez, at fourteen years of age. But that'd another book. We had three children, Vincine Reinbold, Ray Sanchez, Jr. and John James Sanchez. Who all graduated from high school and went on to finish college. After discussing my life, with doctors, lawyers, and especially my husband Ray, they all encouraged me to write about my life. I enrolled in a writing class at Front Range Community collage. After twenty years, my book became a reality. My only hope is, parents will be more considerate of their children and love and protect them from the world around them. Because if you don't, the world can, and will destroy them. It was only by the grace of God He blessed me with a good husband and three wonderful children, I was able to survive and tell my story.
