If you are looking for great pointers and tips on how to embrace getting older and how to actually enjoy your life more than you did in your twenties, this is the book for you. With this guide, you are given the highlights and most important take home messages that can be used immediately in your daily life. What I liked about this guide is that it points out many reasons why we should be happier as we become older. There Is something useful for anyone who reads this – highly recommended.

You will learn that age is just a number and that by being creative, exercising and loving yourself as well as surrounding yourself with relationships of many forms, one will be able to experience just what it means to live agelessly!

I bought this for the 20 or so supposed exercises in the original without having to wade through endless pages of unrelated anecdotes. There are none. There is no substance to this book. It's the equivalent of synopsising Moby Dick as "A guy goes fishing and sees a big fish.". This book is completely bland and useless. I'll save you the money...be proud that you are a woman of age and do the things that give you joy. There, that's this book. Money saved. I'm returning it on general principles. I'll buy the original and go wading.

The first 75% of the book was basically an overview of the Wiccan religion. Author uses Wicca and witchcraft interchangeably. Stresses the Wiccan rede. Huge reference guide regarding what things mean in dreams or visions.

You will not learn how to cast a circle, you will not learn how to celebrate any sabbats or moon rituals. It is very basic and I am sorry I wasted my money.

An underlying theme of the book is the mindset of how there are infinite possibilities when one believes in oneself, and that one’s greatest dreams can come true! ... Tally L. Russell holds a Bachelor of Integrated Studies Degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. She has been creating stories since she was very young ~ some before she could even write. Lovely story, well told By Jenn My daughter takes horseback riding lessons and there are two therapy horses in her class, so we picked up Tally Russell's new book and brought it to lessons to share with everyone. All the kids loved looking at the pictures and we loved reading it! It is uniquely told from Midnight's perspective, which is perfect - because isn't that what riding is all about? This book is highly recommended for anyone who loves horses and loves to ride!

Think about the latest Disney movie, Inside Out. Anger is depicted as short (denoting little patience), red (a fiery, bold color), gruff, and easily knocked out of control. But if anger could be a good thing? With that bold premise, Gary Chapman, best known for his Five Love Languages books, tackles the topic of anger and how to control it.Gary Chapman’s first couple of chapters builds the argument that anger is not inherently negative, but can be controlled and tamed and released positively. Anger, he writes, is something that we experience because we are made in the image of God and God experiences anger as well. However, God’s anger is wholly positive and just, an appropriate reaction to sin or injustice. We, as fallen creatures, have perverted anger to make it something negative and petty.Anger, therefore, should stem from our sense of moral concern. It should arise in us when our sense of morality is shaken. He talks about the righteous anger of Jesus, the anger against drunk driving that led to the creation of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the anger against slavery that led to its abolition, and more. Anger, properly controlled, is a powerful force for good.The following chapters deal with difference aspects of anger, from how to control and release good anger to how to control and restrain bad anger. Chapman also discusses specific relationships: anger against God, anger against a spouse, even anger against oneself. He covers both quick-tempered anger that builds quickly and festering grudges that slowly poison. This book is about how people can handle anger.According to Chapman, anger is something that God has given us, for it can entail being upset at injustice, and this can lead to change for the good. At the same time, Chapman acknowledges that anger is not always about injustice, for it can be about personal inconvenience, or it can result from a misunderstanding. Chapman states that there are at least two ways to deal with anger at a person. First, one can hold the anger back and give the person over to God, who is just, compassionate, and aware of where people are. Proverbs 29:11, after all, states that the wise quietly hold back their anger. Chapman later criticizes bottling anger up and letting it implode; whether that contradicts this piece of his advice, I do not know. Second, one can tactfully confront the person, which accords with other biblical passages, particularly in the Gospel of Matthew. Confrontation provides the offender with an opportunity to apologize, repent, and try to change his or her behavior, or to offer clarification in case of misunderstanding. Chapman also discusses strategies in dealing with angry people: the key here, according to Chapman, is to listen to the angry person. This, I think, is an important insight, for an angry person can easily alienate other people and be in a state of loneliness and isolation.There is a rhyme and reason to what Chapman recommends. I, for one, struggle with confronting people, but I can understand why Chapman would recommend such a course. For a variety of reasons, however, I am doubtful that such a course will always make a person feel better, for it is not a one-size-fits-all strategy. Some people do not care if they offend others because they are jerks. You find plenty of these on the Internet. I do not think that such people would be receptive were I to tell them that they hurt my feelings in a comment. In some cases, confrontation may not be appropriate. Chapman mentions a person who was angry because he was laid off. Should that person go to his boss and explain why he is angry with him? I cannot picture that as an appropriate response. Sometimes the issue is not who is at fault or who sinned but may relate to different interests, personalities, preferences, or frustrated hopes and expectations. I may be upset because a person stopped following my blog, for example, but that is no reason for me to confront that person: it is not as if the person is morally obligated to follow my blog. Chapman’s advice on confrontation would probably work in friendships and family relationships, and maybe other situations, such as when a person is slandering someone (and Chapman presents a story about that). It will not redress all situations that make a person angry, however, and, in light of that, I wish that Chapman offered more strategies on how to deal with anger. One strategy that Chapman would probably recommend is prayer, and, while that may be effective, Chapman should have provided outlooks that people could embrace to help them rise above their anger.The book, in my opinion, falls short, but I did appreciate Chapman’s compassionate, understanding tone towards people who struggle with anger, and also the stories that he shared.I received a complimentary review copy of this book from Moody Publishers, in exchange for an honest review.

Great advice for a volatile subject By Victory Girl "Anger: Taming a Powerful Emotion" by Gary Chapman is a powerful and enlightening book about a very volatile subject.Mr. Chapman clears up misconceptions about anger and forgiveness in an easy to read format. He gives practical examples how to deal with anger that are Biblically sound and dispels incorrect ideas. He teaches how to handle our own anger and to teach our children about theirs.I really appreciated this information and learned a lot. I realized that a considerable amount of the information I had been taught about anger (and forgiveness) actually wasn't right, and was relieved by what I learned.Thank you, Mr. Chapman, for taking the time to research and teach about anger. While most complained about the "oh phooey", that didn't bother me as much. What I didn't like was how the male lead had a case of the Jekyll and Hyde's. One moment he's this gentleman who's so in love and cares so much about his woman, then literally in the same thought shifts to plotting how good he's going to pound and punish her. Its like all he thought about was sex. Don't even get me started on him hopping in the bed with someone with chickenpox...really? A few times I forgot there was a murder mystery to solve because every moment there's sex going on. When we finally get around to solving the mystery its rushed, making the resolution unsatisfactory. And I understand needing to move the story along, but the protagonists jumped in the bed together a little too soon. I know its realistic nowadays, but still, a little too quick for me. But then again I'm a romantic, so maybe its just me. This is my first read of the authors work, so I'm willing to give her work another shot.

Too crass and the book jumped right into lust. The main characters failing in love was unbelievable because everything was rushed. The story could have been better written and developed.

In his lectures on the relations among language, the literary work, and literature, he discusses Joyce, Proust, Chateaubriand, Racine, and Corneille, as well as the linguist Roman Jakobson. What we know as literature, Foucault contends, begins with the Marquis de Sade, to whose writing—particularly La Nouvelle Justine and Juliette—he devotes a full two-part lecture series focusing on notions of literary self-consciousness.

Following his meditations on history in the recently published Speech Begins after Death, this current volume makes clear the importance of literature to Foucault’s thought and intellectual development.

About the Author

Michel Foucault (1926–1984) was a French historian and philosopher associated with the structuralist and poststructuralist movements, whose work has been widely influential throughout the humanities and social sciences. It is quite fascinating to actually read him in his own words. I have come across references to him so many times over the years in reference to various intellectual positions, that I finally decided that I needed to read some of his own stuff. And linguistics is one of my main interests, of course "all the world loves a little madness", and the variations of desire make amazing reading.
