Do you have to be a Coward to be a Christian? Modern Christians are portrayed as weak-willed and pacifists and both the pulpits and pews of many American churches are filled with populists and appeasers. In "Faith and the Patriot" we will examine the history of faithful leaders and American patriots. We will consider what the Bible and Church scholars have to say about justifiable use of force, even the taking of a life in self-defense and the defense of the nation. Topics include: Historical Precedent, Faith and Fighting, the 21st Century Good Samaritan, Strength and the Sword, Reinvigorating the Black Regiment and much more. This book provides not only the inspiration and education but the motivation to be bold, fearless and undaunted in your faith. A must read for every faithful American patriot.

Desrosiers I am only allowed to rate this book at 5 stars, but recommend it with as much enthusiasm as any book I have read. I am skeptical of writers I am not that familiar with, plus given the book is a mere 123 pages I wasn’t sure what amount of knowledge I would glean from reading it, although I was surprised and energized not only by the wisdom, but by the volume of information between the two covers.Paul Markel is true to the title “Faith and the Patriot-a belief worth fighting for” building his argument with historical events and quotes from men like Patton, George Washington, Gandhi and others, he also wraps the wisdom of those who have come before us into very readable book as he quotes John Adams “lets us see delineated before us the true map of man”. Fulfilling his objective, “ Our task today is to consider what we will read to keep our minds as sharp as our swords” Paul Markel, ….that it does.

By taggs Paul Markel has penned what most of us already know within ourselves, but we refuse to permit ourselves to take ownership. To realize with man's pride and oppression, despite a passivist's desire to cower, we are at times sanctioned to redirect violence preventing continued injustices. We, Christians, are not just encouraged by God to defend the victim, we are obligated.

What's better than one ghost story? Three TRUE ghost stories!

Are you afraid of things that go "bump" in the night? Myabe you should be!

All previously released short books, Three True Tales of Terror is the collection of three of Rebecca Patrick-Howard’s personal, true hauntings accounts. The ghost story collection is newly edited with updates and new photographs for the stories.

FOUR MONTHS OF TERROR

A single mother, a child, and one terrifying house...

In 1990, a single mother and her 10-year-old daughter moved into an old house in a quiet central Kentucky town. Their excitement of living in a piece of history fades, however, as they slowly become convinced there's something malevolent in the walls of their rental property. From the ghostly footsteps at night to the splatters of blood they wake up to on their sheets each morning, it becomes quite evident that they aren't alone...

Although they only lived in the house for four months, for a child it was a time of chilling terror that she would never forget. In this short tale, Rebecca calls upon her child's memory to recollect the experiences that still haunt her today.

A SUMMER OF FEAR

She should have followed her instincts about the old job and farm house...

Feeling emotionally drained, discouraged, and beaten from a recent job experience, taking the live-in position at the New Hampshire resort for the summer sounded like the perfect idea. Rebecca figured she’d be able to build up her savings, explore the local area, and bide her time until graduate school started in the fall.

She didn’t count on the isolation, loneliness, and horror that awaited her in the 200-hundred-year old farm house, however.

For at least a month, before the rest of the staff arrived, she’d be alone in the mountains without a single soul for miles. With no telephone or form of communication with the outside world at night, she was understandably nervous.

But, as it turned out, Rebecca was NOT alone. Someone or something knew she was there. It watched her, listened to her, and waited. Was it trying to run or off, or was it trying to make her stay?

What happened in the farm house? Was she losing her mind? Was something toying with her? One thing was for sure: This was a job she would never forget!

THE MAPLE HOUSE (originally published under Jeanie Dyer)

It was meant to be their dream home...it became a house of horror and tragedy.

It was the perfect place– the big house on the mountain with the beautiful porches, soaring ceilings, and sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. It turned into a parent's worst nightmare.

For 2 years the Dyer family lived in a house of mysteries. Bewildering car trouble, sudden medical problems, unexplained noises, ghostly music in the night, swarming insects, and peculiar orbs were just the beginning and could all be rationally explained. When the Dyer's son is attacked and the life of their youngest is taken, however, Jeanie starts to wonder if her family is being targeted by something supernatural and sinister.

In this short book based on a true story, Jeanie narrates her family's time at the Maple House and the experiences that even a popular paranormal television show wanted to document. They thought it would be their dream home...The nightmares still plague the family today.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Fearful Events Can be Terrifying By Marigrah60 I liked these books. I always wondered about ghostly things and was fascinated by the authors experiences. As children, we are more sensative and of course any unusual things creeping about in a house can make quite an impression. I've lived in some homes that made the small hairs on the back of my head stand up. It is a good read and I enjoyed it.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Believable and Relatable By Taisynn These are the real life experiences of Rebecca from childhood to adulthood. The tales read as honest and believable, which makes it, in my opinion, more terrifying. Truth is scarier than fiction, and all of these are relatable in the fact that they aren't extraordinary like dolls coming to life or heads spinning, where you can write it off as fiction and be comforted.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Five Stars By Cheryl MacHauer Very well written books that keep you wanting more.

The story gripped me from the opening paragraphs and I couldn't put the book down. The situations the characters face are real-life struggles many people quietly deal with in private prisons. But there's hope. I commend the author Letisha Hines for bringing this piece of fiction to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have recommended it to others.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. The Truth Shall Set You Free...Or Will It? By Romance Luva Two things for certain, and one thing’s for sure: Lolah Lace is the truth! I didn’t think she could write a male character more brash, more suave, more brazen, more utterly maddeningly sexier than Mason Rizza, but Sebastian Vandervol? In the words of our heroine Nina Norwood: This man here…I don’t even know where to begin with this review because Lolah always gives it to you straight no chaser. Sebastian, or Bash, is alla that-tall, blonde, and handsome…AF! When someone appears to be too good to be true, trust your instincts, but oh what a ride these two take each other on until the truth behind the lies is revealed. The first half of this story reads like one, long foreplay. Bash and Nina meet and the attraction is instant, and he wastes no time staking his claim. Nina, like so many of us, grapple with- Do I go with the flow or reign in my inner ho? Why do us women gotta be hoes when we’re feeling sexual? There’s this constant erotic back and forth, frenzied oral interludes, but no “going all the way”. WHAAAAAAT are you doing to meeee?! But when it happens, oh boy…EX-PLO-SIVE! Bash and Nina have off the charts chemistry. I felt like a voyeur reading this story lol, and their interactions were downright sexy and comical. The second half of this story is a delicious riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a mystery. You kinda think you have it all figured out until the very end and then BLAM-O! WHAAA??! (And that’s a good thing.) There will be a part 2, and I can.not.wait. So to summarize, here all the things that I love about this story:• The dialogue: Fresh, current, unpretentious, and HI-LARIOUS!• Two, mature adults (35+) in a consensual relationship• Candid, open conversations about race and stereotypes which is rare in IR romance stories (Some may find them questionable, even objectionable, but I simply put it into the context of the speaker and the intent behind it)• Candid, grown-up conversations about sex and past relationships• Independent, successful heroine who is about her business• Hot, hot, HAWT romance• Villain(s) you love to hate• Secrets and lies that turn the entire relationship on its earCLICK THIS JOINT UP TODAY!!! ***ARC GIVEN IN EXCHANGE FOR HONEST REVIEW***

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great Story! I loved this book By Gerriv Great Story!I loved this book, could not put it down. The chemistry between Bash and Nina is off the charts HOT! Such a sexy couple! Bash knows how to handle his business and how to handle Nina. He gives Mason Riza a run for his money in the sexy alpha department. The ending was a surprise and a great set up for Part II coming in August. Can't wait!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Lolah Lace Stuck Her Whole Leg In This Book!!!!! By C M When I tell you I loved this story, I LOVED this story!! Man, Lolah Lace is a beast!!! I don't know how she does it. She took a pause from The Fox Brothers Series, while deep into that, and delivered a full length monster of a book, seemingly out of nowhere! She is a beast! I love her work! I will "stan" for her every day. I loved this book because it was hot from the jump and hilarious! I loved the internal thoughts of Nina and I loved the secondary characters. It's hard for me to like secondary characters but I loved Lolah's secondary characters. I like how she weaved them into the story without getting carried away from our primary focus. And Sebastian Vandervol...he's amazing! He's the kind of person I'd like to hang with, have at home, or just be around. He knows what he wants and he's going to get it. He's frank and honest about it too. He is a take charge kind of guy without it being overbearing. Nina is a woman that holds her own and doesn't need a man to do things for her but she'd like a man to do for her. That's what I like about her. This book was hot, the writing was on the money. There were a few grammatical errors but it took NOTHING away from my enjoyment of this story. Cliffhanger wasn't too intense and I didn't want to throw my kindle but I'm not saying I'm ready for book two! I'm always ready for more from Lolah Lace! Here's to looking out for book two!!

Catholic ecclesiology stands at the threshold of a new moment in the reception of the Second Vatican Council. The election of Pope Francis—coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the council—has inspired a fresh consideration of its teaching in such diverse areas as ecumenism, inculturation, missiology, and ministry. The chapters in this volume have their origin in a special symposium that called together over forty of the leading Catholic scholars from throughout North America in order to discuss the future of theological reflection on the church. The nine essays in this volume guided that conversation and offer an entry into some of the most pressing issues in ecclesiology today.

A Church with Open Doors: Catholic Ecclesiology for the Third MillenniumFrom Michael Glazier

Review What an excellent set of writings! By turns insightful, inspirational, and critical, but always interesting, the book's method of looking back and looking ahead offers deep understanding of the present church in its messy, graced reality. So much is in bud. Read it and experience the maturing of the theological voice in North America. Elizabeth A. Johnson, Distinguished Professor, Fordham UniversityNine first-rate theologians here offer their analysis and insights concerning key areas in Catholic ecclesiology, including authority, ministry, culture, gender, ethnicity, mission, liturgy, and ecumenism. The reader gains access to the most current state of theological discussion as the authors not only frankly acknowledge the seriousness of present challenges but also give solid advice concerning the future of the church. Dennis M. Doyle, Professor of Religious Studies, University of DaytonThis book cracks open the doors of the church for a wide audience—students, parishioners, and seekers alike—with essays by the most respected US theologians, younger scholars and seasoned veterans, that explore the most challenging and most promising topics in the theology of the church today. Bradford E. Hinze, Fordham UniversityIf Pope John XXIII wanted to open a window into the church, Pope Francis wants to open its doors. This challenging book, the fruit of an extraordinary gathering of ecclesiologists brought together by Boston College, explores what the church of Pope Francis might mean for questions of evangelization, authority, ministry, gender, and ecumenism. Sensitive to cultural changes and demographic shifts, its starting point must always be mission with a special concern for those on the periphery. Thomas P. Rausch, SJ, T. Marie Chilton Professor of Catholic Theology, Loyola Marymount UniversityAn engaging collection that demonstrates the vibrancy, range, and continued promise of US ecclesiology today. As well as being a most valuable addition to any syllabus engaging the church of our times, it serves as a fitting tribute to Thomas O'Meara, OP, a true theological great whose own creative theological work and wider ecclesial service alike have embodied a vision of A Church with Open Doors across many fruitful years. Gerard Mannion, Amaturo Chair in Catholic Studies, Georgetown University

About the Author Richard R. Gaillardetz holds the Joseph Chair of Catholic Systematic Theology at Boston College. He has published numerous articles and has authored or edited ten books, including Keys to the Council: Unlocking the Teaching of Vatican II (co-authored with Catherine Clifford, Liturgical Press, 2012) and Ecclesiology for a Global Church: A People Called and Sent (Orbis, 2008). Dr. Gaillardetz has been a delegate on the US Catholic–Methodist Ecumenical Dialogue and served as president of the Catholic Theological Society of America between 2013 and 2014. Edward P. Taubes, Badiou, Agamben, Žižek, Reinhard, and Santner have found in the Apostle Paul's emphasis on neighbor-love a positive paradigm for politics. By thoroughly reexamining Pauline eschatology, L. L. Welborn suggests that neighbor-love depends upon an orientation toward the messianic event, which Paul describes as the "now time" and which he imagines as "awakening." Welborn compares the Pauline dialectic of awakening to attempts by Hellenistic philosophers to rouse their contemporaries from moral lethargy and to the Marxist idea of class consciousness, emphasizing the apostle's radical spirit and moral relevance.

Review

A courageous and welcome grappling with contemporary philosophers by a New Testament scholar who has expertise in the history, languages, and methodologies of reading Paul. Paul's Summons to Messianic Life reminds us of the relevance of New Testament scholarship to important contemporary debates on universalism, time, and even political action.

(Laura Nasrallah, Harvard Divinity School)

A manifesto for a Paulinism received histories have strategically forgotten, Welborn's book presents a compelling rethinking of the historical Paul in ancient contexts that substantially transforms the way we hear Paul in recent theoretical or philosophical conversations.

(Ward Blanton, University of Kent)

Paul's Summons to Messianic Life should spark a lively and far-reaching debate in both departments of religion and philosophy that might indeed make Paul 'legible' in entirely new ways.

(Brigitte Kahl, Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York)

A provocative sociopolitical analysis of Paul's letters.... Recommended.

I have been reading the recent theo-philosophical literature on Paul and this concise text brings his thinking into the today’s political debates with a refreshingly radical approach. Welborn’s engagement with Taubes is welcome and his comments on Agamben needed. A thoughtful, learned and spirited book!
