Delivering knowledge to fingertips By Zeewhee Making my research easier one chapter at a time... expanding the subject while reducing flipping through freaking chapters to find what I need. Specific areas straight aimed at ease for my tiny little brain. Good for beginners (me me me) yet I don't feel talked down to or dumbed up. I can feel knowledgeable and accomplished... thank you for passing on the knowledge. Blessed be for good teachers
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Solid Coverage of the Topic and Accessible Style By Amazon Customer This is actually a very good (though short) book. As usual, Connolly is lucid, common-sense and straightforward in her approach to the topic as well as her writing style. The material should be easily accessible to a wide range of occult students through various levels of experience and ability. The subject is not limited to "demons" per se, and the material is broadly applicable to any sort of spirit-work or even devotion to deity.The only criticism I can offer is that I would love to see the book expanded. Admittedly, this is a fairly narrow topic and there is likely a finite amount one can say that is truly useful. I am the sort to enjoy personal anecdotes, whether related directly by the author from her own experience, or from other practitioners/students as related to the author. This is a criticism that I am prone to address to all authors who write concerning spirit work, so Connolly is certainly not alone in this. The work may also have been enhanced by an exploration of the "Feast of the Gods" ritual practice as described by Jake Stratton-Kent in his book "The True Grimoire" ( touched on only briefly, enough to whet the appetite to know more). The book may have also benefited by having a short section devoted to offerings to Lars (household or family spirits) or Familiar Spirits/Servitors. This is material that can be pieced together through referencing other works, but it is nice to have it comprehensively covered in one place. Perhaps, an expanded 2nd edition of the book may include these?Still, this is a great little book if you are looking for an introduction to offerings for those who have not had prior experience. My criticisms above are to be taken with a grain of salt, for I think it is Connolly's direct and to-the-point writing style that appeals most to her readers and makes the material so easily accessible. She doesn't ramble, get all flowery or prose-worthy, repeat herself endlessly, and veer off topic like some authors do in the quest to fulfill a word-count requirement. This is what makes her works so readable, and my biggest disappointment upon completing one of her books is that I don't have another immediately at hand to begin!
