The reviews are in: Many of us avoid discussing, or even thinking about, aging as a possibility. However, there comes a time when the harsh realities of life make pulling your head out of the sand a necessity, and my experience has been that it's not all doom and gloom. "Getting Old" is an absolutely delightful collection of over sixty written works about aging that are both varied and engaging. Some poetry, some short stories. Some comedic, others reminiscent. What they all have in common are a heartfelt look at a phenomenon that we all go through, if we are lucky. I have a parent that I have recently had to put into a facility and this read touched me deeply. Very well done. -- Tricia A. At times beautiful, funny, sad, and brutal, this eclectic anthology is at all times honest. Each of the writers, in their own way, faces the topic of aging with whatever grace they can muster. The result is a touching book about the elderly and those who care for them in their final years. Getting Old is a collection of poetry and prose, with something for everyone. -- Kimberly Schimmel, MLS

Each writer in this anthology have their own unique voice, and it all flows together beautifully. The themes range from happy and funny to reminiscent and thoughtful. They range on different topics as well from mammograms to death and loss of loved ones.I found this anthology interesting and moving at points. To pick out one entry as a favorite would be unfair because they are all wonderful. The poem about mammograms made me chuckle at the end. Oh to have feathers and not need to experience the procedure. Smack In The Eye was another that made me chuckle as I can picture a woman struggling with a needle and thread only to use the same red thread to mend yellow, green and blue clothing. Something I can recall my grandma doing several times. This is a collection that will bring a smile. While we may grow old, we can have doing it, have fun remembering life in the past. While we may grow older, this book will never get old.

By Trevis Peters I got a free copy of this book and I was impressed after reading it. It comes along with some interesting poems about growing old. I got a better insight about the life from a different point of view after reading this book. This is a treasury of sonnets, short stories, and exposition concentrating on an unavoidable truth; getting old. Every essayist in this compilation have their own one of a kind voice, and everything streams together flawlessly. The subjects range from glad and clever to reminiscent and attentive. They extend on distinctive points too from mammograms to death and loss of adored ones. We're all going to get old. None of us are cheerful about it yet it's an unavoidable truth. This is a brilliant gathering of short stories and ballads about maturing. Some will make you grin, others will make you chuckle and a couple will put you somewhere down in thought. I'm not at the stage in my life where I've given a great deal of thought to getting old yet this book has made me begin considering things I hadn't pondered some time recently. It's given me an alternate point of view and I'm greatful for that.I discovered this treasury fascinating and moving at focuses. To select one passage as a most loved would be unjustifiable in light of the fact that they are all brilliant. The sonnet about mammograms made me laugh toward the end. Goodness to have quills and not have to encounter the strategy. Smack In The Eye was another that made me laugh as I can picture a lady battling with a needle and string just to utilize the same red string to repair yellow, green and blue apparel. Something I can review my grandmother doing a few times. This is an accumulation that will bring a grin. While we may develop old, we can have doing it, have a great time recollecting life before. While we may become more seasoned, this book will never get old. I highly recommend this book to everyone out there!
