By Kenneth Bowman Having read many books doing my educational journey, I have not come across a discourse of this natural especially with what's going on, not just with our youth, but with "Black Men" across the broad in America today. Just read today that another unarmed "Black Teen" was killed by a "White Policeman." When will it stop!!! Who will assist our people with this "EPIDEMIC." One may think that with a sitting "Black President in Office" the problem will abate. Quite the contrary, it seems to be intensifying. Moreover, our self appointed leaders that always show up on scene at the first sound of an incident do nothing to assuage the fraying irregardless of all the protests, rallies, church services and etc. The black populace needs a "Hero." Someone that can break the dichotomous warlike antagonism between people of Afrocentric background and the police/law. I believe that "The Streets Can't Have My Son" in the hands of anyone having the slightest part of raising any youth within the black population, i.e., Parents, Guardians, Neighborhoods, Teachers, School Systems, Elders, Preachers/Pastors/Bishops and/or anyone affiliated with raising our youth, should have a copy of this book at the ready!!! Mr. Thomas, you are an unsung "Hero." Thereby, this discourse exemplifies and articulates all the weapons needed to combat the streets from taking our sons. Your book will save many lives if adhere to. It is my sincere hope that one uses the words of wisdom to the utmost. Thanks for all your hard work in publishing this book. Five Stars!!!

Much needed for this time in America By livelaughlove The author addresses real issues facing African American males when it comes to education, incarceration, and the subtle introduction to many of the tactics used to bring about discouragement and low self-worth at an early age in the public school systems across this country. Being the mother of male children and working in the education arena both public and private (there is a tremendous difference) I have had some of the same conversations with many parents who feel the same way about their male children in the classroom. If your child learns differently, teachers are quick to place labels on them. Just as the prison system has become a marketplace to generate funds, so has the public school system, the more labels, the more funding. I highly recommend this book for ALL parents as this will help you to understand tactics used to force a wedge between children of color and society in general, even in our own communities.
