Authentic Insight Based on Real Life Experience By Michael Having known the author of "My Marriage Manual" for close to 50 years, I highly recommend this book to everyone who is seeking deeper insight into marriage. The wisdom and authentic insight that is revealed in this book is so much more than just intellectual thoughts; it draws upon 57 years of personal experience in marriage, along with the author's extensive experience as a marriage and family therapist. Marriage is a lifelong process and this book offers so much for us from taking initial commitment when we said, "I Do",to living it out with success. Highly recommended!

Heavin If you're going to write a manual for marriage, the academic credentials and licenses are essential, which the author most certainly has. However, it is just as important and maybe even more so, that the author has a resume which speaks of over fifty years being married to the same woman; which he has as well! One of his most powerful statements that break the fairy tale marriage mode is when he wrote, "The purpose of marriage is not to give us our childish wishes but to grow us up." The point he is making is that, while many believe that getting married will make us happy, in reality, marriage is for the purpose of making us holy. It's holiness that produces the ultimate happiness.The book also addresses those difficult transitions in married life which can range from an abusive spouse to how much a divorce costs (not merely financially, but the human totality of it) and a chapter I wish would have been written when I was a child, "Help For The Step Families." Whether you are presently single, a newlywed, or have been married for many years, the book offers an enormous amount of godly and practical wisdom, but most importantly, hope!Ernie HeavinMinister and Christian Author
